Texas has no blanket rule that automatically makes every adult booking photo secret after release. The responsible custodian still applies expunction, nondisclosure, juvenile, security, and other legal limits.
The image proves only that a photograph was associated with a booking record. Charges shown with it are booking allegations and may change, be dismissed, or end in another result. The photo does not show why the person left the jail. A Tom Green release card may represent bond, time served, dismissal, transfer, or another recorded disposition, yet its public fields omit reason and destination.
Use the SO number and booking number to link the image to the correct admission. Names and faces alone are weak identity checks. Court records provide the case outcome, while the jail record provides the booking and physical release details.

IVSS may help notify a registered user about a covered custody change, but its purpose is notification. A person no longer in custody may disappear. Preserve the alert, then locate the official Sheriff, TDCJ, or court record.

The official TGSO 48 Hour Release list is the most direct recent source. Cards show a photo, full name, SO number, booking number, booking time, age, bond, charges, and exact release time. The roster is a rolling window, not an archive. Save the identifiers and request the record promptly if the photo is needed after the card expires. TGSO announced its upgraded official app with public inmate information and an Inmate Roster notification category. Official materials do not promise a release-specific alert, the released filter, or long-term photo access in the app. The documented web feed remains the source for the release card. Request Tom Green Booking Photos
When a release card has expired, use the Tom Green County Sheriff contact channel to confirm delivery details for a request to the records custodian for the existing booking photograph. Texas Government Code Chapter 552 governs the request. No Sheriff-specific online PIA form, booking-photo fee, retention rule, or response estimate was found. Do not assume the photo is free or promise production by a fixed date.
- Gather the full name, date of birth if known, SO number, booking number, booking date, and release date.
- Write a narrow request for the existing booking sheet and booking photograph tied to that admission. Add the public release record only if it is needed.

Texas Business and Commerce Code Chapter 109 imposes duties on businesses that publish criminal-record information, including accuracy and completeness practices, a visible dispute contact, verification with government sources without charging the subject, and correction procedures. Texas expunction law is now in Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 55A. For a state identification photo, use the formal TDCJ public-information process and cite the correct person. Policy ED-02.40 treats departmental identification photos as public records available through a formal request, subject to applicable law. Include the seven-digit TDCJ number or SID, full name, birth date, conviction county, and approximate custody dates.
The difference is practical. Emailing only for projected release information will not return an image. A formal request can seek the existing TDCJ-CID identification photograph along with the public release or discharge fields. Keep the image tied to the state identifier, not merely the name.
